Buying Cattle

How do I purchase cattle on Cattle Hub?

Browse our marketplace, find cattle that meet your needs, and contact the seller directly through our messaging system. Once you agree on terms, you can complete the transaction through our platform or arrange payment directly with the seller.

Can I inspect cattle before purchasing?

Yes, we encourage buyers to inspect cattle in person whenever possible, especially for large purchases. Contact the seller to arrange a visit to their ranch. For Butcher Box purchases, we provide detailed photos and documentation.

What information is included in cattle listings?

Listings include breed, age, weight, sex, health status, vaccination records, location, price, and photos. Verified sellers provide additional documentation and certifications.

How do I know if a seller is trustworthy?

Look for the Verified Seller badge, which indicates the seller has completed our verification process. Read reviews from other buyers and check their transaction history.

Butcher Box Service

What is a Butcher Box?

Butcher Box is our farm-to-table beef delivery service. You purchase a whole, half, or quarter cow from one of our verified ranchers. We process it at a USDA-inspected facility, dry-age it for 21 days, cut it to your specifications, and deliver it to your door.

How much meat do I get from a Butcher Box?

A whole cow yields approximately 400-450 lbs of take-home meat. A half cow yields 200-225 lbs, and a quarter cow yields 100-115 lbs. This includes steaks, roasts, ground beef, and other cuts.

How much freezer space do I need?

A whole cow requires 12-15 cubic feet of freezer space (about a 20+ cubic foot chest freezer). A half cow needs 7-8 cubic feet, and a quarter cow needs about 4 cubic feet.

Can I choose my cuts?

Yes! When you place your order, you'll fill out a custom cut sheet specifying exactly how you want your beef processed—steak thickness, roast sizes, ground beef portions, and more.

How long does the process take?

From order to delivery typically takes 35-40 days. This includes scheduling processing, 21 days of dry aging, cutting and packaging, and shipping. We'll keep you updated throughout.

Shipping & Delivery

How is live cattle transported?

Live cattle transportation is typically arranged between buyer and seller. Many sellers offer delivery services, or you can arrange your own transport. All cattle must be transported according to state and federal regulations.

How is Butcher Box beef shipped?

Butcher Box beef is vacuum-sealed, flash-frozen, and shipped in insulated coolers with dry ice. Packages are delivered via refrigerated freight or overnight shipping to maintain quality.

What states do you ship to?

We ship Butcher Box beef to all 48 continental US states. Live cattle transactions are available nationwide, though transportation arrangements vary by location.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Contact us immediately if your order arrives damaged or thawed. Take photos of the packaging and products. We'll arrange a replacement or refund.

Payments & Pricing

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards, ACH bank transfers, and wire transfers for larger purchases. Sellers may also accept checks or cash for in-person transactions.

Are there any fees?

Cattle Hub charges zero commission on cattle sales. Sellers pay a monthly subscription fee based on their plan level. Butcher Box orders include processing, aging, and shipping in the listed price.

How is Butcher Box pricing calculated?

Butcher Box is priced per pound of hanging weight (the weight after initial processing but before cutting). Typical prices range from $6-10 per pound depending on the rancher and beef grade.

Do you offer financing?

We partner with agricultural lenders who offer financing for large cattle purchases. Contact our team for more information about financing options.

Trust & Safety

How do you verify sellers?

Sellers must provide government ID, business documentation, livestock permits, and proof of ranch location. We verify all documents and may conduct virtual or in-person inspections.

What if I have a problem with a transaction?

Contact our support team immediately. We'll work with both parties to resolve disputes. For Butcher Box orders, we offer our satisfaction guarantee.

Is my personal information secure?

Yes, we use enterprise-grade security to protect your data. We never share your personal information with third parties without your consent. See our Privacy Policy for details.
